FUN FOR EVERYONE! Please plan to join us at the second annual St. Mary of Gostyn 2008 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Youth Race. Come and enjoy a great day! SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 6:45 – 7:45 AM Race day registration & race packet pick up 8:00 AM 5K Run/Walk start 9:15 AM 1 Mile Youth Race start (14 and under) Awards ceremony following completion of youth race. LOCATION The race starts and ends at McCollum Park, 6801 S. Main St., Downers Grove, IL 60515. It takes place in the neighborhood east of the park on a USATF certified route. Click HERE for a map of the course. DIRECTIONS Take Main Street to the stoplight at 67th Street, and turn east into the park. REGISTRATION Three ways to register: 1. Mail completed form and fee to St. Mary of Gostyn School, Attn: 5K, 440 Prairie Ave.., Downers Grove, IL 60515. Click HERE for a printable registration form. 2. Click HERE to register online until 8/27/08. Please register at the race after this date. 3. Race day registration begins at 6:45 AM and ends at 7:45 AM. Registration will be available after all Masses on Sunday, 8/17 and 8/24, and at the Parish picnic on 8/24. RACE FLYER Click HERE for a copy of the race flyer with entry form. TRAINING PROGRAM The Runners Grove running store, 5155 Main Street, Downers Grove, IL, has teamed up with us to help you prepare for this run/walk. They have created a “Couch to 5K” training program to guide your training. Click HERE for a copy of this program. They also invite everyone to join their Running Club on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM at no charge beginning on June 25, 2008. RACE PACKET PICK UP Race packets can be picked up on race day from 6:45 – 7:45 AM. RACE RESULTS Race results will be posted at McCollum Park after the end of each race, and at www.racetime.info. AWARDS Top male and female for each race and top three male and female finishers in each age group will receive awards: 14 and under by year, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over. T-SHIRTS & GOODIES All registrations received by 8/20/08 are guaranteed to get a race T-shirt of their chosen size. Registrations received after 8/20/08 will get T-shirts while supplies last. Goodie bags will be provided to the first 500 registered participants. SAFETY Running strollers will be allowed. Regular strollers are not allowed. No dogs, skates, bicycles, scooters, and headphones. REFRESHMENTS Water will be provided at the start/finish area and at the race midpoint. Post race refreshments and snacks will be provided courtesy of our sponsors. |
